TripAdvisor has named Destin, Florida the number one vacation rentals destination in the country. The Northwest Florida Gulf Coast town beat out Myrtle Beach and Orlando which were number two and three on the list.
Known for its savvy traveler reviews and no non-sense approach to travel planning, TripAdvisor has gained a following of millions world-wide. Visitors are invited to rate and review everything from hotels and restaurants to attractions and activities, making TripAdvisor a-must-see-before-we-go website.
Destin is one of the dozens of beach towns along the 227-mile stretch of the Northwest Florida coast known as THE Beach. From its eastern end at the oyster capital of Apalachicola to the historic Pensacola in the west, the area boasts spectacular white-sand beaches and clear, blue-green Gulf waters.
According to TripAdvisor, “it’s all about the water … it's the perfect base from which to sail, wind surf, scuba dive or snorkel. If there's a water sport you're interested in, Destin is destined to have it.” It is also a perfect base from which to day-trip and see the rest of the coast.
Using their traveler ratings and popularity index, TripAdvisor has ranked the following Destin rentals, restaurants and attractions.

- Destin Towers #23 is a second floor two bedroom, two bath Gulf-Front Condo offered by Compass Resorts that sleeps six. Travelers gave it top billing for lots of amenities, great furnishing and an amazing view.
- Beachside Inn 109IN offered by Newman-Dailey Resort Properties, is a one bedroom, one bath pet-friendly rental house that sleeps four. Although not directly on the beach, travelers like its pet and family friendly atmosphere and reasonable price.
- Villa Coyaba #408, offered by Compass Resorts, is a four-bedroom, three bath beach-front condo that sleeps eight. Travelers liked the spaciousness of the place, the location and the décor.
Destin Restaurants
- At McGuire's Irish Pub & Brewery, 33 Hwy 98, Destin, travelers like the food, the festive atmosphere and the good service.
- Travelers ranked Another Broken Egg Café, 9100 Baytowne Wharf Boulevard, the Village of Baytowne in Sandestin, the best place for breakfast.
- Callahan's Restaurant & Deli, 950 Gulf Shore Dr, Destin, was a traveler’s favorite for the variety and large portions of food and great service.
Destin Attractions and Things to Do
- Campers love Henderson Beach State Park for great camping facilities. Beachcombers love it for its clean, wide beaches. There are even beach accessible wheelchairs.
- The Village of Baytowne Wharf in Sandestin Beach Resort offers upscale shopping, dining and a bayside boardwalk. Arts exhibitions are frequent and they also have the region’s only zip line at the Baytowne Adventure Zone.
- What’s a trip to the beach without parasailing? Just Chute Me Parasail was ranked number three by TripAdvisor travelers who liked the 800-foot top flight experience.
Long known as the World’s Luckiest Fishing Village, Destin offers anglers a chance at the big catch, while landlubbers can see fish and history at the Destin History and Fishing Museum. TripAdvisor travelers ranked the museum number six on their list.
